A moment of deep joy and spiritual significance was marked by the blessing and inauguration of the newly built St. Vianney Convent at Vianney Campus, Toluvi, for the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Elizabeth on 18th May, 2025.
The Blessing of the Convent was solemnly administered by Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, while the inauguration was carried out by Sr. Preeti, Provincial Delegate, in the esteemed presence of Rev. Fr. Carolus (Vicar General), Rev. Fr. George Punnolil (Financial Administrator), Rev. Fr. Johny (Parish Priest, Holy Cross Parish), and many priests from across Dimapur and Chümoukedima.
The ceremony was enriched by the participation of religious sisters from various congregations, the Toluvi Village Council Chairman and members, local neighbours and well-wishers, as well as lay representatives from St. Joseph’s Church and St. Mary’s Fellowship Unit, Padumpukhri, including the catechists and delegates from Samaguri. In a beautiful expression of Christian unity, Reverend Deacons from various denominations also graced the occasion, strengthening the spirit of communion and shared witness.
The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Bishop James, concelebrated with the clergy who have supported the sisters’ mission since its beginning. The Padumpukhri Fellowship Choir led the singing, enhancing the reverence and joy of the celebration.
The Sisters of St. Elizabeth expressed heartfelt thanks to God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and all the saints and angels who interceded for the realization of their long-awaited home of prayer. They also thanked the Diocesan construction team for the successful execution of the building project and expressed deep appreciation to the Diocesan Family under the leadership of Bishop James Thoppil, and all religious communities for their continued support and solidarity.
The occasion culminated with a simple agape meal, bringing together all gathered in a spirit of fellowship and gratitude.
