Jakhama hosted the annual intra-cultural 11th Spring Fest under the theme ‘Heritage Awakening’ on March 7 and 8.
The guest of honour, Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima in his greetings enunciated that heritage is the heart of our community and it is the greatest gift of God to our people.
The special guest, John Tsulise Sangtam, NCS, Deputy Commissioner of Phek in his speech encouraged the students to be laborious in a competitive world and to have firm believe, in one’s beliefs, to achieve what one believes in. He encouraged the students to be authentic and identify one’s gifts, and contribute to one’s family and society.
The second session highlighted folk dance, war cry, ethnic fashion show, rooster catching, snail eating competition, bamboo pole climbing, go-cart race, bamboo walk and photography competition. Renowned artists such as Ace Crew, Rev. Fr. Stephen Touthang, Guru Gee, Yemkong Somba and Divine Connection performed during the festival.
The second day featured Naga Wrestling. The performing artists were Hopong Naga, Cherry on Jupiter and Trance Effect.
