26th April, Golden Jubilee of Sr. Mercy, SABS Celebrated with Gratitude and Joy

On 26th April 2025, Sr. Mercy Poonaramatom SABS, celebrated the Golden Jubilee of her Religious Profession, marking 5o years of dedicated service to God and to the Church. The event was graced by the presence of Most. Rev. James Thoppil, the Bishop of Kohima, fathers, sisters, friends and members of local community, who shared the joy and honor Sr. Mercy for her unwavering commitment and contributions to the Church and to the Society.
Sr. Mercy set off for mission in 1978, in places like Hundung, Imphal, Ukhrul and Chandel. Later she continued her service in Nagaland, in the Places of Shanti Bhavan, SABS Provincial House, Mokokchung and Tuesang. Teaching and educating the young hearts and minds remained her passion. For the past 13 years till date, Sr. Mercy continued her dedicated service in Marangatupilly, Kerala. Her life is a beautiful testimony of faith, dedication and love for education – touching countless lives with her wisdom and kindness.
The Celebration commenced with a solemn celebration of the Holy Mass at SABS Provincial House Chümoukedima, presided over by His Excellency Most Rev, James Thoppil, the Bishop of Kohima. The homily reflected on Sr. Mercy’s journey of faith and service, appreciating the impact of her work over the past five decades.  Recalling the manifold blessings of the Lord upon her, Bishop acknowledged with profound love and gratitude.
Following the Holy Mass, there was a short felicitation Program, congratulating the jubilarian. The Jubilarian also expressed her sincere graititude to God and to everyone. The event concluded with fellowship meal, shared with joy and gratitude.
