A solemn Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration was held on 13th February 2026 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Palliative Care Centre, 7th Mile, Chümoukedima, in gratitude to God for the elevation of the Servant of God Joseph Panjikaran to the rank of Venerable.
The celebration was presided over by Rt. Rev. James Thoppil, Bishop of the Diocese of Kohima, who graciously officiated as the main celebrant. He was joined by Fr. Chacko, Fr. George Rino, and twenty-seven other priests who concelebrated the Holy Mass, making the occasion a profound expression of ecclesial unity and communion.
The programme was well organized and prayerfully conducted. Sisters from various religious congregations, well-wishers, benefactors, doctors, town committee members, parish-level office bearers, and numerous faithful were present to participate in this grace-filled celebration. Their presence reflected the wide impact of the life and mission of Venerable Joseph Panjikaran.
A special highlight of the evening was the inspiring address delivered by Rev. Fr. Joe Mariadas, Director of Shalom Deaddiction and Rehabilitation Centre. In his speech, he eloquently reflected on the visionary leadership, healing ministry, and heroic virtues of Venerable Joseph Panjikaran, emphasizing the relevance of his charism in today’s world. His words deeply moved the gathering and renewed in all a commitment to continue the mission of compassionate service.
The atmosphere throughout the celebration was one of reverence, gratitude, and spiritual joy. The faithful actively participated in the Holy Eucharist, offering heartfelt thanksgiving for the life and witness of our beloved founder and seeking his continued intercession.
The programme concluded successfully, leaving all participants spiritually enriched and strengthened in their dedication to carry forward his vision of healing, evangelization, and service to the poor and marginalized.
