The 2nd YCS Convention of Kohima Diocese was successfully held from 10th to 12th April 2026 at the Mary Help of Christians Cathedral under the theme, “Gen-Z for a Self-Sustaining World.” Over 200 students and 16 animators from seven parishes across the diocese participated in the three-day programme.

The convention began with the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, who described the youth as “Gen Z pilgrims of hope for a holistic life and a sustainable world.” The inaugural session included a welcome address by Sr. Mariyam Chothe Khiyang, YCS Coordinator of Kohima Diocese, a short address by Mr. Jonas Yanthan, CAN President, and a motivational talk by Dr. Rosou Ronald Pohena, President of NCYM. Members of NCWA were also present on the occasion.

On the second day, Holy Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Lawrence Khing, Vice Principal of NEISSR. Rev. Fr. Kokto Kurian, YCS Chaplain of Kohima Diocese, delivered the thematic session on the role of youth in building a sustainable society. Adv. Jimmy Padang, former YCS/YSM National President, conducted sessions on the essence of YCS and cell meetings, while Mrs. Neisovonuo Anna, former YCS Coordinator, spoke on the relevance of YCS in today’s context. The day also featured a vibrant Talent Night. Sr. Monica Khangchian FMA, Coordinator of YCS/YSM Northeast, addressed the gathering and encouraged the participants.

The concluding day coincided with Divine Mercy Sunday. The Holy Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Rozu Anthony Dukru, Parish Priest of Mary Help of Christians Cathedral, Kohima. A major highlight of the closing programme was the induction of the new YCS Kohima Diocesan Executives, who took their oath during the concluding Mass.

The convention concluded successfully, strengthening unity among the youth and renewing their commitment to the values and mission of YCS.
