Bishop made his Pastoral visit to Sacred Heart Parish Chizami on 10th and 11th March 2024. The Community accorded a warm welcome to Bishop before the Holy Eucharistic celebration. Fr. Amos the Parish Priest introduced and welcomed the Bishop and requested him to special pray for the community. During the mass Bishop thanked the Parish priest, the sisters and the leaders of the Church for their tireless work that they are rendering to the Parish. In his homily Bishop also stressed on the need to live a true life of witness by permeating the society with the values of the Gospel. He said that we should be proud that we belong to the true Church which is founded by Christ himself through the Apostles, but that privilege comes with a great responsibility therefore as Catholics we should be more sincere and truthful so that by our example many more will appreciate and join our faith. After the Mass there was a short felicitation programme followed by meeting with the Parish Pastoral Council members. Since no one was sharing anything, Bishop again took the time to encourage the community to remain strong in their faith and inspire more people with their good way of life.
The next day, Bishop offered mass with the campus father and sisters. At 8:30 am Bishop was escorted by the school leaders along with the cultural troops to the school auditorium for the felicitation programme. Fr. Amos the principal introduced and welcomed Bishop and presented a shawl to him and Fr. Alex Tep. The students also sang a welcome song and performed a beautiful folk song. Bishop began his message by quoting Robert Louis Stephenson “count your days not by the harvest you reap but by the seed you sow”. He remarked that whatever we are enjoying now is the fruit of people who have sown good seeds for us, therefore he encouraged the students to sow good seeds of hard work and dedication so that they will bring glory to the society, school and to their lives. He also said there are three types of people – those who say ‘I can’t’, ‘I want’ and those who say ‘I will’. Those who are truly successful are not the ones who say ‘I can’t’ and escape every opportunity or ‘I want’ and only wish for success, but they are the ones who says ‘I will’ and grasp every opportunity. Therefore he challenged the students to be people who say ‘I will’ and make the best use of the opportunities that is laid before them. After the felicitation programme, Bishop met all the staff in the Principal’s office.
