Blessing of St. John Church and Silver Jubilee

In preparation of the Silver Jubilee, on 2nd December night during the Mass, 28 Children received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion and 55 received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

On 3rd December, there was a celebration of the Silver Jubilee and Dedication of the new Church at New Vongti Village under St. Paul Parish, Pungro. Bishop was accorded a warm welcome at 9:00 am, and was led to the village to bless the monolith of the Village Citizen Jubilee. Bishop also blessed and inaugurated the New church. At the start Bishop congratulated Fr. Peter Pithungo the Parish Priest and Fr. Leo and the Sisters and the Catholic community of New Vongti for the initiative to construct the beautiful church. In his homily Bishop remarked that the church is very well constructed and beautiful, not necessarily because of its aesthetical value but because every Church that is built is a grace from God and God dwells in a very special manner, particularly in the Eucharist that will be preserved in it. He also said remarked that in Nagaland the Church has pride of place in the village and infact some call Nagaland a land of Churches. He also added that Church is also a sign of the Christian presence. Building, the material or the physical of a Church is easy, provided one has the money and manpower. But the external and material Church is only the manifestation of a real and true Church, i.e., Christians he added. He therefore concluded by inviting everyone on the need to shake off the dust of routine, habit, indifference and negligence to let Christ come alive in our lives once more. During the felicitation programme there were many who spoke to convey their Jubilee messages. Some of the dignitaries were Tsulise the president of the working NDPP party, Mrs. Sangsula Catherine, president CWA, Pungro Parish, Shri. LenpithongPaul, VCC New Vongti Village, Sr. Yithachu Thurr EAC Pungro HQ, Shri, vongtokiu VCC Pungro Village etc. Bishop along with the special guest released the Jubilee Souvenir on the occasion.
