Career Guidance for the Young held at SJCK

St. John Church, Kiusam Town, held Career Guidance on 27th December 2025 with the theme “Charting Your Path to Success.” A resources persons were Mr. K Sudanvito Justin, Women Resource Development Officer (WRDO), Nagaland, Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu, Associate priest, Kiusam Town and Bro. Henry Orien’s Theological College, Shillong.

Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu, while speaking to the young, said, “Chart your path to success.” He motivates the young to have a big dream to become someone in the future with their hard work. For classes 6 to 8, develop skills and interests, for classes 9-10, focus on decision making and for classes 11-12, focus on transition readiness for the systematic preparation for entrance exams like JEE, NEET, CLAT, IITs, with mock tests and time management strategies. He also highlighted the streams like science, commerce and arts. He inspired the youth with the life story of Mr Pichai Sundararajan, the CEO of Alphabet and Google from India and his earnings. He encourage to work hard and achieve someone in the future.

Mr K. Sudanvito Justin highlighted the theme; Believe in yourself even when no one else does!. He said, “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost, moves us that Life’s a journey, and youth are at the crossroads. Don’t be afraid to face challenges. When you face challenges, believe in yourself even if others don’t. Learn to trust yourself to achieve certain goals, he gave an example of Thomas Edison’s story. Failure isn’t the end; it’s a stepping stone to success! He failed 1000 times, but he didn’t give up. He kept going, and boom! Discovered the bulb and how the world is enjoying today.

Bro. Henry, in his talked quoted Winston Churchill, who once said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal” he encourages learning, not to be afraid to make errors. He further encourages not to repeat the same mistake but to refine the life. In mistakes, we should take the strength, keep going and keep growing.

There were lots of fun learning, treasure hunting and group activities. Later miss Asang Mary thanked the resource persons and the youth for spending a day fruitfully. A day concluded with the common meal.
