A two-day Catechism Teachers Animation Programme was successfully conducted at Phesama for the Jakhama region, comprising the parishes of Phesama, Jakhama, and Kidima, from 11th to 12th April 2026. A total of 33 participants attended the programme. The sessions were vibrant and engaging, featuring input classes, group dynamics, action songs, and catechetical games. Several resource persons were invited to deliver meaningful and enriching sessions.
On the first day, the input sessions were led by Fr. Sabu Chenackal, who spoke on “Hierarchy of the Church, Catechism Teachers as Models of Prayer, and Basic Knowledge of the Liturgy of the Mass.” Fr Kokto Kurian gave input sessions on, “Classroom management with love and discipline” and “Working together: Parish, Parents, and Catechism Teachers.” Fr. Anthony Loyola conducted sessions on “Understanding Children at Different Age Levels” and “Skills for Preparing and Presenting Catechism Lessons,” which also included practical components.
On the second day, Mr. Marcus Dzüvichü animated sessions on “The Role of Catechism Teachers in Children’s Faith Formation” and “Being a Living Example as a Catechism Teacher.” Sr. Rita Kera MSMHC facilitated both theoretical and practical sessions on “Liturgical Signs, Symbols, and Gestures” and “Making Bible Learning Interesting and Engaging.”
Participants expressed their appreciation for the enriching experience, highlighting the opportunity to learn new methods, gain fresh insights, and actively engage through innovative activities, games, and songs. Many also suggested that such programmes be conducted regularly and extended over more days to further benefit catechism teachers.
