The Commission for Education, Diocese of Kohima (CEDOK) felicitated NBSE rank holders from Catholic schools, along with institutions that achieved 100% pass results, at a grand function held at the Golden Jubilee Hall, Cathedral Campus, Kohima, on May 1, 2026.

A total of 36 rank holders (24 HSLC and 12 HSSLC) were honoured on the occasion, along with 13 schools that recorded 100% results (11 HSLC and 2 HSSLC). Marking a significant milestone in the educational progress of the state, Catholic schools registered zero dropout at the HSLC level for the second consecutive year, with all enrolled students appearing for the board examinations and achieving an impressive overall pass percentage of 91.3%. The toppers were presented with certificates, mementos, and cash awards.

Dr. Tseilhoutuo Ato Rhütso, Honourable Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from Kohima Town Constituency, graced the occasion as the Special Guest, while Elias T. Lotha, Transport Commissioner, Government of Nagaland, attended as the Guest of Honour.

Sharing his personal life journey, Dr. Tseilhoutuo Ato Rhütso exhorted the students to embrace discipline and perseverance during their formative years. He encouraged them to make sacrifices in the present to secure a brighter future, cautioning that the higher secondary stage is a period of greater freedom that must be used wisely. He further urged students to aspire to become responsible global citizens, grounded in strong values, and reminded parents that investing in education is far more valuable than the cost of ignorance.

Speaking as Guest of Honour, Shri Elias T. Lotha emphasized that success is not an individual achievement but the result of the collective efforts of dedicated teachers and supportive parents. He encouraged the students to aim higher, dream bigger, and continue learning, while also reminding them to use their talents for the greater good and contribute positively to society.

Ms. Shreya Singh, HSLC 3rd Rank holder from Holy Child School, Burma Camp, spoke on behalf of the awardees. She shared her journey of success and expressed gratitude to the organizers for recognizing the hard work and dedication of the students.

The programme was enlivened by vibrant cultural presentations, including dances, songs, and choreographies performed by students from various Catholic schools in and around Kohima.

The awards were presented by the dignitaries, including Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, Secretary & Chairperson (Addl. Charge), NBSE, and Jonas Yanthan, President of the Catholic Association of Nagaland, along with the Special Guest and Guest of Honour.

Earlier in the programme, Rev. Fr. Dr. Jacob Charalel, Secretary, CEDOK, delivered the welcome address, greeting the dignitaries, toppers, parents, and well-wishers. He highlighted that the Catholic Church, through its widespread network of schools across all districts of Nagaland, continues to uphold education as a primary mission.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Rev. Fr. Renthungo Victor, Joint Secretary, CEDOK and Principal of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Dimapur. He expressed gratitude to all participants and invited the gathering to a fellowship lunch.
