Chakhesang Catholic Youth Association Report on Convention 2025

The Chakhesang Catholic Youth Association (CCYA) had its Convention on the 17
th
to 20
th
January 2025 with the Theme, “Be Transformed” (Roman 12:2) at Thenyizumi village. The Convention began with the Introductory Session on the 17
th
January where the President Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) Mr. Beituo Cyril Mepfhuo was the Introductory Guest. Mr. Cyril and the entourage of ACYA Office Bearers honoured the Introductory Session where Mr. Letuozo Patrick Kiewhuo, the Vice President ACYA hoisted the CCYA Flag and with that the convention started. In the Introductory Session, Rev. Fr. Charles Phom, the Spiritual Animator addressed the Welcome note and lighted the Convention candle. The first day culminated with the Rosary, Confession and Adoration which was led by the Sisters of Auxilium Convent, Thenyizumi.
The second day of the Convention began with Eucharistic Celebration which was celebrated by Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, the Bishop of Kohima. After the Eucharistic Celebration, the declaration of the new Office Bearers was announced by Er. Khrotso John, the Convenor of Nomination Committee and the newly nominated Office Bearers were blessed by his Lordship. The new team will be led by Mr. Shesato Moses Hoshi as the President.
The first talk Session on the topic “My Catholic Faith” was delivered by Rev. Fr. Kokto Kurian, the Director, NCYM as the Resource Person. After the session, an Aerobic Dance Session was held where Mr. Avisa John was the Resource Person. In the second talk session, Rev. Fr. George Vekupa Rhakho, the Administrator of St. Xavier’s College, Jalukie was the Resource Person and he delivered on the topic, “The Church and its Identity”. The second day ended with the Choral and skit competitions between the 5 parishes.
The third day began with the Fitness session led by Mr. Avisa John. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist was celebrated with Rev. Fr. George Vekupa Rhakho as the Main Celebrant. After the Eucharistic Celebration, a Felicitation programme was held where Shri John Tsulise Sangtam, NCS, the Deputy Commissioner of Phek was the Special Guest of the Convention. The Valedictory Session was held on the same evening with Mr. Nuvesayi Edward Hoshi, the President of Chakhesang Catholic Association as the Valedictory Guest. The day ends with the Entertainment Night where various uprising Artists took the stage.
The convention came to conclusion with the Eucharistic Celebration on the morning of 20
th
January 2025. Rev. Fr. Charles Phom celebrated the Holy Eucharist and also de-hoisted the Flag and with that the delegates departed to their own destination. The Convention was hosted successfully with around 400 delegates actively participated the programme.
