FIAT MISSION; The 5th Great Gathering of Missions

The FIAT Mission, the 5th Great Gathering of the Missions, was held at the Jerusalem Retreat Centre in Thrissur from April 10th to 14th, 2024. Each day, hundreds of faithful attendees gathered for the mission exhibition and various retreats held simultaneously on the premises. The program commenced with morning instructions at 8:00 am, followed by a Holy Mass celebrated by Cardinal Alenchery George, the Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church.
One noteworthy moment occurred when the Auxiliary Bishop of Thrissur and the Bishop of Indore visited our Kohima Stall dressed in traditional Naga attire and addressed the media. The stall attracted visitors of diverse backgrounds, some of whom were drawn to try on the traditional attire for photos.
The second day featured a Mass led by the Bishops of North East India, with Most Rev. John Moolachira of Guwahati as the chief celebrant, presiding over the English Latin Rite Mass. Other bishops from the North East, including Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil of Kohima, Most Rev. John Thomas, Bishop Emeritus of Itanagar, and Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Menamparambil, Bishop Emeritus of Guwahati, joined in the Eucharistic celebration. The choir was led by fathers and sisters from Kohima and Imphal.
On the third day, Bishop Thomas Mar Anthonios of Gurgaon celebrated Mass in the Syro-Malankara Rite. The fourth day saw Bishop Chacko Thottumarickal, the emeritus Bishop of Indore, presiding over Mass in the Latin-Hindi Rite. Finally, on the last day, Bishop Ambrose Putheveettil, the bishop of Kottappuram, celebrated Mass in the Latin-Malayalam Rite.
The event provided a platform for missionaries from various parts of the country to showcase their activities. It also offered attendees the privilege of participating in and witnessing Holy Eucharistic celebrations in all the Catholic Church’s rites prevalent in India.
