Golden Jubilee and Church Blessing of St. Theresa Church, Peren

Peren, one of the earliest Catholic communities in Nagaland, celebrated a twin milestone on December 29, 2024; the Golden Jubilee of St. Theresa Church and the blessing of its newly built Church. The event coincided with the Feast of the Holy Family, marking 50 years of unwavering faith and commitment.
The solemn blessing of the church was officiated by Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, in the presence of parishioners, Fr. Thomas MSFS, the parish priest, along with his team of priests, religious, and Church leaders. The new church stands as a testament to the deep-rooted faith of the Catholic community, symbolizing their dedication to worship and spiritual growth.
Bishop Thoppil congratulated the community for their enduring faith and acknowledged the significant role played by the MSFS Fathers and CMC Sisters in ministering to the parish. He emphasized that every church, regardless of size, is a divine grace where God dwells, especially through the Eucharist, a profound symbol of His presence. Bishop Thoppil reminded the faithful that the jubilee and the blessing of this newly built church is an occasion to commit ourselves newly and totally to the faith of the Church, the faith of the Catholic Church, for which our forefathers suffered and bore witness.
The event was a joyous occasion, filled with gratitude, prayer, and a renewed dedication to the faith. The newly blessed church now stands as a beacon of Catholic heritage and devotion in Peren.
