Priestly Ordination of Deacon Charles SDB

Deacon Khamo Zhopa Charles SDB of St. Mary’s Parish, Lozaphuhu village was ordained to the priesthood on 31 December 2024. The ordination was administered by Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, in the presence of 45 priests including Rev. Fr. Pampakal Joseph SDB provincial and vice provincial of the Salesian Province of Dimapur and about 1000 faithful who gathered from far and near to witness the significant occasion. Fr. Khamo Zhopa Charles is the first Salesian priest from the Chakhesang tribe of Nagaland.
Bishop James Thoppil emphasised the importance of priestly service and encouraged the new priest to remain steadfast in his mission, drawing inspiration from the words of Christ: “That they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).
