Silver Jubilee Celebration of St. Joseph Parish, Chümoukedima Cum St. Joseph Parish Women Association

St. Joseph Parish, Chümoukedima was established in the year 1998. On achieving its remarkable twenty-five (25) years of its existence, the Parish as well as the Women Association celebrated the Silver Jubilee on 16th – 17th December, 2023 on the Theme: “How Great Thou Art” (Ps 104: 1). Gracing the occasion was Rev. Fr. Carolus Neisalhou Kuotsu, the Vicar General, for the inaugural Mass on 16th December and his Lordship, Most. Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, for the Jubilee Mass on 17th December. The Jubilee monolith was blessed by his Lordship, Most. Rev. Dr. James Thoppil. Shri Johnny Ruangmei, President, Catholic Association of Nagaland did the honour of unveiling the monolith stone. The presence Mr. Charles Nozazol, State Information Commissioner, former parish priests, assistant priests, priests and religious and lay faithful added joy to the celebration. Besides, as many as fifty (50) children received first communion during the Mass.

The monolith stone was brought in the manner of Naga Traditional Stone Pulling on 1st December with varied traditional attires from various tribes within Chümoukedima Parish. His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil also graced the occasion with Naga traditional dress, accompanied by Rev. Fr. Anthony Rozu in his fully armed traditional attire. While, the community, in their own traditional attires, with songs and chants, joined the celebration with homemade Naga dishes carried in traditional baskets, to be shared with everyone after the end of the mega event. Each priests, religious sisters, postulants and candidates joined different families during the fellowship meal.  

The community witnessed the Thanksgiving Night in the evening with Shri. Johnny Ruangmei as the Special Guest, to mark the glorious celebration of the Jubilee Year. Stepping into another year of God’s blessings, St. Joseph Parish, Chümoukedima looks forward in hope to the Golden year with your prayers and moral support.
