St. Xavier Higher Secondary School in Shamator successfully hosted a comprehensive Teachers Orientation Program on 11th February 2026. These pedagogical skills and crucial awareness were on contemporary educational issues. The program saw an enthusiastic participation from the teaching faculty, keen to enhance their professional development.
The insightful sessions were led by esteemed resource persons, Rev. Fr. John Lichoi and Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu. Their expertise guided discussions on a diverse range of topics vital for modern teaching. Key themes included effective classroom management strategies, meticulous lesson plan development, and the essential skills of teaching that foster an engaging learning environment.
A significant portion of the orientation focused on the psychology of a child and the overarching philosophy of child-centred teaching, emphasizing methods that prioritize students’ individual needs and learning styles. Furthermore, the program provided critical awareness on the National Education Policy (NEP), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the detrimental effects and legal implications of corporal punishment.
This initiative was by Rev. Fr. John Poji and the Staff of the St. Xavier HSS Shamator. Its commitment is to nurturing a progressive and safe educational atmosphere, ensuring its teachers are well prepared to meet the evolving demands of the educational sector and provide the best possible learning experience for their students. -Fr.
